Lawsuit with former Killers manager Braden Merrick

Since The Killers were founded in 2002, Robert Reynolds began working with the band as their lawyer. Part of the way through the Hot Fuss (the bands' first record) release and tour Robert Reynolds became the band's manager.

At the same time, their then-manager Braden Merrick was terminated (claims including breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty). In February 2006, Braden Merrick sued Robert Reynolds and The Killers for breach of contract, demanding millions in damages. In response, The Killers petitioned the California Labor Commissioner to void their contract with Braden Merrick and order him to return the commissions he had received based on Merrick's being a "dishonest" and "incompetent" manager who was unwilling to perform his duties. The parties settled out of court and the lawsuits were dismissed in October 2009.[3]
